What do the settings mean?
1 User Type
The startup of the unit is a little different for the two modes. When the Deepod is started in fishing mode the user has a choice of paravane analysis or shallow/deep data logging.
When the Deepod is started in science mode the user can choose between data logging at different sampling times.
2 Long Term Logging
Long term logging is used to increase the battery time more than the normal ca 8hrs of use.
In the long term logging mode the Deepod is put to sleep between the sampling points. This saves battery, however, it also affects the logging capabilities.
Long term logging means that data cannot be oversampled between the actual points where it is saved. That affects aggregated data like Min and Max sampling.
3 Retain at Power On
If set to yes, the Deepod will retain all advanced settings if power is turned off and on.
If set to no, the Deepod angle at power on will determine logging parameters.
4 Auto Start Below Surface
If set to yes, the Deepod will auto start when below 0.5m of water.
If set to no, you have to start the logging manually with the joystick before submersing.
5 Buffer Type
Linear buffer means that data will be logged until end of buffer is reached. The maximum number of data points are 120 samples.
Cyclic buffer means that the oldest sampled points will be overwritten after end of buffer has been reached.
6 Water Type
Select between sweet or salt water.
This is needed to get an accurate depth measurement.
7 Stopping Time
Stopping time starts counting when the Deepod is above the water surface. When the time has expired the Deepod logging is stopped.
Minimum 3 samples are taken before stopping time countdown is started.
8 Max Sample Time
This is the maximum time allowed between samples.
9 Depth Tolerance
When the depth has change by this amount since the last sample was taken, a new sample is taken.
10 Active Measurements
Default selection of measurements. No user selection is possible.
11 Selectable Measurements 1
